No mas...

That's it. That's the last of the underpaintings for a while. Gotta be; I'm starting to feel like I'm channelling Mark Tansey. That's all well and good, but... well... I miss yellow... and blue... and green... and...

In all seriousness, doing this many intricate grisailles in a row has got me thinking about a series of true monochromatic still lifes. That's for another time, though.

...channelling Mark Tansey...it's a good line! He was one of my favourite american painter a couple of years ago. I almost had the same thought looking at all of your underpaintings evolving, kind of a storyboard. Lights and colors are mainly attractive in your work, so
exploring monochromatic fields could bring unexpected surprises.

Thanks Pierre; yeah, it's kind of interesting when initial steps in the process (like doing the grisaille) start to suggest different outcomes (like not doing the final painting).

I should pay more attention to hints like that.

Anyway, since writing this post I've been thinking more about monochromatic pieces; it should be fun to explore...
